Iceland started two years ago, a great and innovative renewable energy startup accelerator program, called Startup Energy Reykjavik. While open to startups involved in renewable energy, the program has also seen the participation of geothermal energy related startups.

Startup Energy Reykjavík will be held for the third time this fall. The goal is to help those who want to execute business ideas in the field of energy and cleantech. Chosen applicants receive $40.000 and 11 weeks of intensive training. The program is now accepting applications. Startup Energy Reykjavik founders also get great place to work, ten weeks of intensive top-notch mentorship, and the chance to pitch to angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program. Startup Energy Reykjavik was founded by Landsvirkjun, Arion Bank, GEORG and Innovation Center Iceland in December 2013. The program is facilitated by Icelandic Startups and Iceland Geothermal.

The program has seen several geothermal companies the last two runs and I hope it will again see some applications of teams planning something related to geothermal.
