La Geo in El Salvador reports the start of the 2nd edition of the Geothermal for Latin America geothermal training program. The program for energy professionals from Latin America features, technical training, field trips and project work.

Professionals from energy firms and players of several Latin American countries are currently in El Salvador starting a geothermal training program. The diploma, called Geothermal for Latin America, is LaGeo’s second with the support of the Nordic Development Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, the University of the United Nations and the University of El Salvador (UES).

The diploma program will last 21 weeks in total, of which 17 will contain technical know-how, field visits to plants and geothermal areas in Ahuachapán and Berlin.

Four weeks will also be allocated for a final course project. In addition, a short course on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has been included.

For the program 10 scholarships have been given to Latin American professionals and 10 to students from El Salvador.

The program has scholarships for foreigners, which include travel, transportation, accommodation, food and insurance, both medical and living expenses.
