BLM completes environmental assessment for Coyote Canyon/ Dixie Meadows geothermal exploration proposed by Terra-Gen Power and is no seeking public comments.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District, Stillwater Field Office, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the Coyote Canyon/Dixie Meadows Geothermal Exploration proposed by Terra-Gen Power (TGP) Dixie Development Company, LLC. BLM is accepting written comments on this EA during a 30-day public review period that runs through the close of business on Monday, May 10, 2010.

The proposed geothermal exploration projects are located in the western portion of Dixie Valley and are approximately 27 air miles northeast of Fallon, Nevada. This EA analyzes potential impacts from the proposed exploration and testing activities at the Coyote Canyon and Dixie Meadows sites. Because both geothermal drilling projects have similar timing, geography, and types of actions, BLM has determined that the two proposals would be analyzed in one EA. This proposal will allow TGP to evaluate the characteristics of the geothermal resources at these two sites. The proposed activities include:

• Constructing new access roads,
• Upgrading existing access roads,
• Constructing up to 15 well pads,
• Drilling and completing slim wells and/or exploration wells,
• Flow testing exploration wells to determine commercial potential,
• Upgrading existing access roads,
• Extracting aggregate material

Written comments are to be sent to Desna Young, planning and environmental coordinator, Stillwater Field Office, 5565 Morgan Mill Road, Carson City, NV 89701.
