Geothermal Power Plants and engineering principles in electricity generation through geothermal resources are covered in a good book from 2008 by Ronald DiPippo, "Geothermal Power Plants (2nd edition)"

There are several books on geothermal energy, some more useful than others. A lot of books can be found on geothermal heat pumps but there are limited books on geothermal power plants and technology for electricity generation.

A rather concise book, despite being somewhat outdated with regards to up and running plants and the recent growth in develoment world-wide, is “Geothermal Power Plants (2nd edition): Principles, Applications, Case Studies and Environmental Impact” by Ronald DiPippo. The book in its second edition was published in January 2008. It is a hardcover book with 520 pages.

The book, so the introduction on Amazon.com, “covers all aspects of the utilization of geothermal energy for power generation from fundamental scientific and engineering principles. The thermodynamic basis for the design of geothermal power plants is at the heart of the book and readers are clearly guided on the process of designing and analysing the key types of geothermal energy conversion systems. Its practical emphasis is enhanced by the use of case studies from real plants that increase the reader’s understanding of geothermal energy conversion and provide a unique compilation of hard-to-obtain data and experience.

A new chapter to the second edition, “covers Environmental Impact and Abatement Technologies, including gaseous and solid emissions; water, noise and thermal pollutions; land usage; disturbance of natural hydrothermal manifestations, habitats and vegetation; minimisation of CO2 emissions and environmental impact assessment.”

The book, and this is what I find rather useful, goes into detail into the engineering principles of geothermal power plants and provides a number of case studies.

Altogether a very useful and essential book. Useful might be the “Look-Inside” feature on Amazon.com.
