California power grid operator California Independent System Operator (CalISO) has been joined by Nevada transmission company, which will allow Southwestern Nevada renewable power projects to sell power into California.

Reported last week, California’s largest electrical power grid is now managing the grid in much of southwestern Nevada as well.

California Independent System Operator (CalSO) that has managed the electric power transmission grid for most of California announced that Nevada Valley Electric Association has formally joined the CalSO as participating member.

In this transmission alliance, will strengthen the energy market in the region, as it will advance renewable power and create efficiencies for electricity customers in California and Nevada”, so the CEO of CalSO.

While local news predominantly mention proposed solar projects in Nevada as likely benefiting by now being able to sell electricity into California, the same might apply to several geothermal projects in Nevada.
