Calpine receives air quality regulators for the planned geothermal power plants of Wildhorse and Buckseye with a combined capacity of 100 MW in the Geysers area in California.

Reported from the U.S., Calpine has secured permits to build two new geothermal power plants at the Geysers area in California. The permits come from the air quality regulators and are another milestone in this 100 MW $700 million project. The planned plants are known as Wildhorse and Buckeye.

Interesting fact is though that this would set the price at $7 million for 1 MW installed capacity, which seems outrageously high.

Production from the new plants could start as early as 2014 with expected construction duration of about 30 months.
