Chilean geothermal development company Geotermica del Norte SA, is in the process to seek permission for the construction of a 50 MW project. The planned Cerro Pabellon plant is to be built in the north of Chile in the Antofagasta region.

Reported today from Bloomberg and announced by the Chilean environmental licensing agency, Chilean geothermal development company Geotermica del Norte SA, is in the process to seek permission for the construction of a 50 MW project. The planned Cerro Pabellon plant is to be built in the north of Chile in the Antofagasta region.

A 220-kv transmission line is to connect the planned plant to the power grid, so the Comision Nacional del Medio Ambiente on its website April 29.

The company received an exploration license in 2009 and has “filed for permits to build a standard, 40-watt geothermal plant and a 10-megawatt binary cycle power plant that uses a heat exchanger.”
