Local news point out that geothermal has been pushed at the back of the new Energy Agenda and the actual legislative process would commence in late 2015.

Disappointing news come from Chile, where local news expose that regarding the new energy agenda that the government is working on, geothermal has been pushed to the back of the list.

According to the news source, “For this year, the Energy Agenda includes sending three projects: to boost geothermal, changes to the legal framework governing transmission systems; and Energy Efficiency.” For latter two projects, work and consultations are underway, and it is scheduled that the actual legislative process would commence in the second and fourth quarters of the year, respectively. Geothermal would in late 2015.

Bearing this in mind, it would be safe to assume that little progress or development in the area of geothermal is expected until the end of 2015.
