China to expand geothermal energy

China's Ministry of Land and Resources swill focus on the development of geothermal energy in the next five years, so a recent news piece on TV.
In a recent news piece on television in China, it is said that China’s “Ministry of Land and Resources swill focus on the development of geothermal energy in the next five years.”
With predominantly low heat resources close to the most populated areas, the utilization of geothermal energy is primarily done for direct use applications, such as heating.
“Data released by the ministry shows that there are more than one-thousand geothermal energy fields around the country, and nearly a quarter of them have been developed. The country’s utilization of geothermal energy is number one in the world.” (… this statement relates to direct use of geothermal energy)
“The ministry says geothermal energy could help cut carbon dioxide emissions by 25 million tons each year. The ministry says a geothermal database will be set up to further improve the utilization of this energy.”
