Energy Development Corp. (EDC) has closed its geothermal plant in Bago City, Negros Oriental in the Philippines after completing tests of its steam wells, with no immediate plans for reviving the plant.

Reported this morning from the Philippines, “Energy Development Corp. (EDC) has closed its geothermal plant in Bago City, Negros Oriental after completing tests of its steam wells, the company disclosed to the bourse on Monday.

It was not immediately known whether the plant will be revived and when this will be, with the firm only saying it will first study data from the tests.
The Northern Negros plant was put online on April at a limited capacity to make use of steam being produced during the testing of the Pataan production sector wells.

This was after the company decommissioned the plant in December last year due to low steam levels.”
