Energy Development Corp. subsidiary Unified Leyte Geothermal Inc. has won the bid for a 40 MW portion of contracts sold by PSALM for the Unified Leyte geothermal plants in the Philippines.

Following news earlier today and from last week, now Energy Development Corp. also has announced having won a bid by its subsidiary Unified Leyte Geothermal Inc. (ULGEI) for a 40 MW portion of the contracts being sold by PSALM for the Unified Leyte geothermal plants.

“Psalm has accepted ULGEI’s decision not to push through with its bid for the ULGPP’s bulk energy contract. The EDC subsidiary had rescinded its offer after the Leyte-based geothermal power complex sustained damage from Typhoon ‘Yolanda’ last year.

Besides EDC, Psalm also had approved the offers of Aboitiz Power Corp, Vivant Corp and Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Corp for the 600-MW ULGPP output.

Psalm earlier apportioned and auctioned off around 200 MWs out of the 240 MW energy strips carved out of the ULGPP’s contracted capacity. Psalm kept the remaining 40 MW energy strips for the government.”
