New ways to speed up the permitting process are needed since there are 290 pending renewable energy power project applications just in Mindanao with a potential combined capacity of 3000 MW.

Mindanao in the Phillipines is eager to boost green energy and “key regional government agencies involved in the permitting process of renewable energy projects have expressed commitment to accelerate processing and updating of RE project applications in various regions on the island.” according to local news.

The Mindanao Development Authority (Minda) will soon provide “operational updates on the implementation of the One Stop Facilitation and Monitoring Center (OSFMC), a web-based portal for tracking RE applications in Mindanao.”

New ways to speed up the permitting process are needed since there are 290 pending renewable energy power project applications just in Mindanao with a potential combined capacity of 3000 MW.

Minda launched last year, the OSFMC web portal which was “designed to effectively monitor and update the status as well as facilitate the speedy processing of the pending RE project applications in Mindanao”.

According to Minda, the vast majority of power projects correspond to hydropower, with a combined potential capacity of 2,147.71 MW. There are also some solar and biomass projects but there are at least eight geothermal energy power projects with a combined potential capacity of 278.48 MW.
