ELC Electroconsult SpA recently obtained a half a million USD contract via tender for geothermal surface exploration on the Aluto Langano area in Ethiopia.

Accordint to SeeNews, Italian engineering firm ELC Electroconsult SpA recently won a USD-499,000 (EUR 429,300) contract, through a tender, for surface exploration in the Aluto Langano geothermal field in Ethiopia.

The company sealed the deal with the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) on January 7, the latter said in a statement Thursday.

ICEIDA and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) are co-funding a bigger project whose aim is to encourage and support geothermal exploration and capacity building in East Africa. The aim to help countries in the region boost their geothermal knowledge and capacity.

ICEIDA and the Government of Ethiopia are partnering on the geothermal initiative.
