Italian ORC provider Exergy has received two awards at the GeoPower Global Markets Awards ceremony at the GeoPower Global Market event in Amsterdam yesterday. The company has been named “Most Innovative Technology Provider 2013” and the company’s CEO Claudio Spadacini was named “Geothermal Person of the Year 2013? at the same awards ceremony.

“The award, announced yesterday is in recognition of Exergy’s efforts in developing the world’s first radial turbine centrifuge for a geothermal binary plant. The plant (installed for Enel Green Power) is located in Bagnore, Mount Amiata, Italy. The plant is a giant leap forward for green energy and was designed and produced in Italy thanks to the innovation of Exergy. The radial turbine is the flagship product for Exergy and we are focused on bringing geothermal energy into the future.

CEO Claudio Spadacini said recently, “In choosing the Exergy product, Enel Green Power have made an important step towards the future of green energy and Italian production. Exergy has designed and built a turbine ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) centrifugal radial flow which is completely new in the area of geothermal energy exploration. The technology installed for Enel Green Power at Bagnore can produce electricity up to 1 MW using the heat from a geothermal source.”

The awards were created to acknowledge the geothermal industry and the steps taken to encourage growth in the power industry each year.”
