The Kincade fire in California has caused minor damage to the Geysers geothermal power plant

As reported by Calpine spokesperson Brett Kerr in an email, the Geysers geothermal plant in Lake County has sustained relatively minor damage due to the Kincade fire in California. However, the threat to the facility has now passed.

“Some of our operations have been temporarily suspended but we expect production will resume very soon.” added Kerr. “Consistent with our fire prevention protocols, due to the wind conditions we had de-energized our local power line system before the fire started. We do not believe our facilities caused the fire. There are power lines operated by third parties across The Geysers.”
