First 110 MW unit of Sarulla geothermal project to come online this month
The first 110 MW of the Sarulla geothermal power plant will come online this month, with the second phase 110 MW to add an additional 110 MW later in 2017, so Ormat in a recent statement.
In a recent call on its financial results, Ormat Technologies announces that the first unit of the Sarulla geothermal project will go online with 110 MW later this month. In his statement in the call, Isaac Angel, the CEO of Ormat, said that the first 110 MW phase is currently being tested, with engineering and procurement for the second phase at Sarulla has been substantially completed, and engineering, procurement and construction work for the third phase are in progress.
The Indonesian government is counting on the second phase of Sarulla will add another 110 MW later this year, as we reported.
The Sarulla project is one of three geothermal facilities Ormat anticipates will come online this year. The 35-MW Platanares project in Honduras and the 24-MW Tungsten project in Nevada are expected to reach commercial operation by the end of the year, according to Angel.
