The 9th International Geothermal Conference in Freiburg, Germany reports a successful event with around 200 participants from 14 countries.

The recently held 9th International Geothermal Conference in Freiburg, Germany has established itself as an important geothermal event in Europe.

With more than 200 participants from 14 countries, the conference provided an overview on the current state of the industry based on project experience, cost efficiency, political framework and the development projects in the Upper Rhine valley in Germany and France.

59 speakers from all branches of the industry, research and politics provided a wide overview on development in Germany and France, but also issues such as the renewable energy legislation and feed-in-tariffs in Germany and more.

The event also featured as every year a Short Course, this time focusing on the construction of geothermal power plants.

The conference participants overall provided positive feedback on the presentations of the conference. Bruono Brethes of the French turbine supplier Cyrostar said that “he was impressed by the quality of the presentations”. Cryostar has been a vivid supporter of this event and announced at the event that it will now be able to provide turn-key geothermal power plants with his sister company Linde in Dresden, Germany.

The conference closed with two field trips, one to the geothermal power plant of EnBW at Bruchsal and the other two the EGS research project at Soultz-sous-Forets in France.
