New plans for a residential and commercial property in Grimsby, England see development of district heating from geothermal resources underneath the area.

Local news inform that there is a geothermal heating project being studied in Grimsby in Northeast Licolncshire in the UK.

The project aims to provide heating for housing and also allow for other commercial purposes such as greenhouses for food production. For the time being the project is on its early stages and details are scarce, but Mr Ranby-Gorwood, consultant stated that “We are looking at applying for planning permission to drill bore holes, and for some form of research and development centre to get long-term analysis of the work we do.We are also applying for permission to build 25 homes – five of which will be affordable homes – homes that will be very ecologically efficient. They would be geothermally heated, either through deep or shallow means.”
