Out of the 231 pending renewable energy projects, with a potential capacity of 2419 MW, only eight are of geothermal nature with a potential capacity of 278.48 MW

The Mindanao region in the Philippines has, according to local news “a total of 231 pending renewable energy (RE) projects, with a potential capacity of some 2,419 megawatts (MW), as of December 2014.”

The vast majority of these projects are for the development of hyrdro plants, yet there are “a total of eight geothermal projects with a potential capacity of 278.48 MW, wherein seven have already been awarded with a service contract while only one has yet to be given with one.”

The Philippines is currently growing economically at a very fast pace and the demand for electricity and power are also on the rise.
