The German city of Bochum will host the office of the International Geothermal Association (IGA) for the next five years.

Germany will be hosting the International Geothermal Association (IGA) in the city of Bochum for the next 5 years, as announced this week.

The IGA sees it as its task to support and foster research, development and utilization of geothermal energy for heat but also power generation.

The president of Germany’s Geothermal Energy Association, considers the choice of Germany for hosting the IGA office as a recognition of the country’s role in geothermal energy today. Previously IGA was hosted in Italy, the U.S., New Zeland and Iceland.
