As part of this year’s Annual Meeting and Expo, the Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) has announced a total of four field trips that will take place before and after the conference. The GRC Annual Meeting and Expo will be held in Palm Springs, California, USA from September 15 to 19, 2019. The details of the field trips are as follows:

Before the conference

  • On Saturday, September 14, a three-hour off-road ride will take you into the California Desert and along the San Andreas fault zone.
  • On the morning of Sunday, September 15, a two-mile hike into the Palm Canyon will bring you to a special place for the Agua Caliente (Hot Water) Band of Cahuilla Indians in a beautiful palm oasis.

After the conference

  • Just after the end of the Annual Meeting on September 18, a two-day field trip to the Coso geothermal field will provide a rare opportunity to explore the field operations, volcanic geology, and hydrothermal features. The tour will then continue to GreenFire Energy’s experimental closed-loop geothermal power production technology that uses both water and supercritical CO2 as working fluids.
  • Also departing on September 18 is another two-day field trip to the Salton Sea geothermal field in the Imperial Valley, where up-close observations of quaternary volcanoes, mud volcanoes, and hot springs will be available. There will also be stopovers at the John L. Featherstone and Heber geothermal power plants.
