The GRMF will be holding a Policy Makers' and Donors's Collaboration Meeting from May 3-5, 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility – Regional Geothermal Coordination Unit (GRMF-RGCU) informs on a GRMF Policy Makers’ and Donors’ Collaboration Meetings in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 3-5 May 2016. The event is organized by the Department of Infrastructure and Energy of the African Union Commission (AUC) and includes the following meetings and events at the AU New Conference Centre:

  • GRMF Decision Makers’ meeting to be held on 3-4 May 2016: (reporting on 1) the Implementation Status of the GRMF and Regional Geothermal Programme and on 2) the important initiatives undertaken by AUC and its’ partners since the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration in June 2009 on geothermal energy development in EARS countries. This includes among others: Establishment of an African Center of Excellence, AU code of Practice for Geothermal Drilling, BGR Geothermal Support Programme (GEOTHERM), DFID East Africa Geothermal Energy Facility (EAGER), Technical Report on the West Branch of the EARS, etc.;
  • Donors’ Coordination and Collaboration meeting and launching of the GRMF 4th application round to be held on 5 May 2016.

Participants will include Ministers in charge of energy and experts of the eligible countries to the GRMF , AUC Commissioner of the Infrastructure and Energy Department and GRMF-RGCU experts, ambassadors to the AU of the GRMF member countries and donors’ representatives.

An official invitation letter providing information on the logistical aspects and a final Agenda will be sent to you as soon as possible. Please do not miss to attend to these important meetings and events on geothermal energy in Africa.

NOTE: All geothermal stakeholders interested in the workshop are welcome to attend during any of the three days
