Drilling has started on a new high heat geothermal well of company HS Orka on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland.

This is the 34th well drilled on site serving the Reykjanes geothermal plant. Iceland Drilling is using the rig Thór, its largest drilling rig for the project. The well drilled now is the first one drilled in Iceland since the fall of 2013. It is going to be used for reinjection to fuel up to 100 litres/ second down the well to replenish the geothermal reservoir.
