Iceland Drilling wins drilling contract for three wells with an option for additional two wells for Icelandic energy company HS Orka for the activities on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Announced by the company via Social Media, Iceland Drilling has been awarded a drilling contract for Icelandic energy company HS Orka.

The contract “covers three wells with the option to expand for five more. Following a price survey conducted by HS Orka, it was decided to award the contract to Iceland Drilling.

The company will use its drilling rig Thor, which can be run on power from the local electricity grid. The power will come from the nearby geothermal plants of HS Orka.

For the three wells that will save about two hundred thousand litres of fuel, which is good for the environment and the economics for the drilling.
