Australian developer Icon Geothermal, subsidiary of Icon Energy receives positive geothermal systems assessment for two exploration sites in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin in southern Queensland.

Australian Icon Geothermal, wholly-owned subsidiary of Icon Energy, announces the receipt of positive geothermal systems assessment for two of its exploration sites in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin in southern Queensland, Australia.

Australian geothermal consultants Hot Dry Rocks prepared the assessment and estimates a thermal energy in place of 23,000 PJ with temperatures in the targeted hydrothermal reservoir of between 133-137 degrees Celsius.

In a statement the company says that “a proof of concept program is currently being prepared as a prelude to drilling the first test well, and that production tests will be performed on the well which will record the performance of a hot sedimentary aquifer for the first time at the location.”
