The International Energy Agency published an overview on its “Geothermal Heat and Power Roadmap” a few years ago that it is still worth revisiting today.

In a now a bit dated overview document, the International Energy Agency published an overview on its “Geothermal Heat and Power Roadmap”.

The document, while a bit old, provides a rather good overview on where geothermal energy development could go. This with the different technologies and their development gives a great outlook and what are the expectations for the industry. It also shows that the industry is lagging behind ambitions R&D targets regarding co-produced fluids and super-critical fluids.

Overall an interesting overview, that also shows a development potential of up to 200,000 MW in installed power generation capacity by 2050 and 566,000 MW for geothermal heat capacity by 2050.
