IGC.events - a collaboration by Enerchange and ThinkGeoEnergy - brings to you geothermal events with a focus on valuable content, lively discussions and business networking opportunities.

ThinkGeoEnergy and its German partner Enerchange GmbH & Co. KG have been organising a series of geothermal events over the years. While Enerchange, initially established the IGC brand of the successful event series that was held in Freiburg in one of Germany’s (and France’s) hot geothermal the Upper Rhine Graben, it now successfully holds the annual Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern, a focused event on the Bavarian geothermal market.

In 2016, ThinkGeoEnergy and Enerchange formed their partnership and founded IGC.events. The goal was to hold events that target at providing a focal meeting point for industry focused on either regions, e.g. Turkey or on topics, such as our annual geothermal investment forum.

“We saw the need from events from the industry for the industry building on our long standing and work within the geothermal sector. The goal was to provide events that provide a useful and strategically interesting event with ample networking opportunities focused on pushing development forward. At the same time, we saw the need to create events that provide for a wider access to the industry.”  – so Jochen Schneider, Managing Director of Enerchange and co-founder of IGC.events.

The first conference organised jointly was the IGC Turkey – Geothermal Congress for Turkey in Izmir in 2016 in partnership with EBRD. Since then we held three additional events in Turkey in partnership with the World Bank, industry partners, as well as the Association of Geothermal Operators in Turkey (JESDER), accompanying the growth of the sector from 666 MW in 2015 to 1,544 MW in 2019.

“Working together for years on various topics, it was obvious that Jochen Schneider of Enerchange and me share a similar passion of bringing the industry and partners to the industry together. What better way is there than to provide a meeting platform in the form of the events as provided by IGC.events. Our combined experience in accompanying the industry through our media and communication activities, while also technical through Mr. Schneiders activities, have helped us connect widely in the industry proving a sound basis for successful geothermal events.”, so Alexander Richter, Principal at ThinkGeoEnergy.

The next event under the IGC.events collaboration will be the IGC Invest Geothermal Finance & Investment Forum, 26 March 2020 in Frankfurt/ Germany. With that event, we provide a platform for geothermal industry leaders and international investors, including private equity, infrastructure, debt, institutional investors and public equity funds, as well as public funding partners such as development banks, funds and institutions. It further is set up to help increase awareness among investors and the geothermal energy industry to educate about opportunities and challenges of investments in energy infrastructure development globally. The event will also feature two workshops providing an opportunity for an introduction to geothermal energy for companies or individuals wanting to enter the geothermal sector or learn more about basics about development and operation.
