The Indonesian government reports an interest of British oil company BP into the Indonesian geothermal energy market.

According to Indonesian government officials, oil and gas company BP “is currently studying the possibility of expanding its Indonesian business activities by developing geothermal energy projects.

The company has been exploring getting active in the geothermal market in Indonesia, since the company’s CEO met Indonesian president in May of this year.

“While BP continued to study the prospect of entering the geothermal energy sector, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry would allow the company to conduct geothermal exploration surveys in 28 locations across Indonesia, he added.

“The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Forestry Ministry have signed an agreement allowing geothermal exploration in these 28 locations.”

A recent awakened interest of BP for geothermal has also been reported from other regions of this world.
