Turkish Hitay Holding is ready to invest up to $1 billion into the 220 MW Gunong Guerudong geothermal project in Aceh/ Indonesia if it were to win the ongoing tender.

Turkish company Hitay Holding has offered investment worth up to $ 1 billion or about 13 Trillion Rupiah to work on the 220 MW Gunong Guerudong geothermal project, Bener Meriah.

Currently the Turkish company is waiting for the announcement of the winning bidder from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. In addition to Hitay, the tender is also known to be followed by KS ORKA, a company originating from China.

“Insya Alah we will soon work on the project,” said Mehmet Emin Hitay,  Chairman  of Hitay Holding Turkey, after meeting with the Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf this morning.

“We are offering on the development of up to 160 MW, but the geothermal potential in Gunong Geurudong could reach 220 MW, so total investment that we will do is about $1 billion,” said Mehmet

Mehmet said it had visited Aceh four times to discuss the investment plan of the Gunong Geurudong geothermal project. He is grateful for the support from the Aceh Government to Hitay Holding.

Hitay will later drill 6 wells to obtain geothermal energy sources within two years.

Mehmet believes, Gunong Geurudong has enormous energy potential and is a very profitable investment prospect for Hitay Holding as well as for the investment world in Aceh.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf in his meeting with Mehmet also offers various other investment opportunities. Among other things, investment in Arun Lhokseumawe Special Economic Zone, investment in fisheries, agriculture and tourism.

Irwandi also asked Mehmet to invite other investors in Turkey to invest in Aceh in various fields.
