Alexander Richter 3 Jan 2020

With transmission infrastructure being put in place, Iran's first geothermal power plant at Meshingshahr will be able to start operation this year.

News yesterday report that it is expected that the first geothermal power plant in Iran at Meshginshahr will be soon putting geothermal electricity into the national grid.

Iranian Minister Reza Ardakanian announced that the plant will soon be operational at a meeting of the Administrative Council of Ardebil last week, noting that the the 230 kV transmission line is currently being set up and thereby help to improve electricity supply for industries and agriculture.

There have been news again and again over the years on how close the plant is to operation, so we take this with a grain of salt at the moment until we learn more.
