Construction under way for 30 MW Karaha geothermal power plant by Alstom for Pertamina Geothermal in West Java, Indonesia.

Early last year, Alstom announced having won a contract for a 30 MW geothermal power plant to be built in West Java for Pertamina Geothermal.

Pertamina granted Alstom the EPC contract to supply and install the 30 MW Karaha geothermal power plant in West Java, Indonesia.

The contract is for the construction of a turnkey geothermal power plant, including Fluid Collection and Receiving System (FCRS), silencers, inlet scrubbing, steam turbine and generator, condenser and gas extraction system, cooling towers, HV switchyard and all mechanical, electrical and civil erection and construction works until commercial operations.

The project is ongoing and construction under way. The plan is to start operation towards the end of 2016. Alstom is working with New Zealand-based Hawkins construction firm.
