EBTKE in Indonesia has launched the auction process for the 110 MW geothermal working area of Simbolon Samosir.

In an announcement on its website, the Directorate General for New, Renewable and Energy Conservation at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) in Indonesia reports having launched the pre-qualification process for Simbolon Samosir geothermal Working Area (WK).

The Geothermal Working Area (WKP) Simbolon Samosir is targeted to be operational by 2024 and foresees the development of a 110 MW geothermal power plant with reserves of around 150 MW.

This WKP has an area of 168,800 hectares, and is locaed in the five regencies of Samosir, Toba Samosir, North Tapanuli, Humbang Hasundutan and Dairi.

The Simbolon Samosir WKP is one of eight working areas being auctioned by the Indonesian government this year.

Launched November 2, 2016, Director of Geothermal Yunus Saefulhak said that in addition to meet the electricity to the public, Utilization of Geothermal in the Work Area Geothermal Simbolon Samosir is also expected to bring in additional revenue for the region, through the Tax State Revenue (non-tax) on most of the gross revenue of the licensee Geothermal ” he said in his speech.

With this socialization implemented, he added, is expected to tender WKP Simbolon Samosir, can be accomplished smoothly. “The winner of the auction will be able to carry out the activities with the support of all parties, particularly local governments and communities, so that the use of geothermal energy can be accomplished in accordance with the target,” said Yunus.
