Hinton in Alberta, Canada is considering the development of their untapped geothermal resources.

Hinton in Alberta, Canada might see geothermal development in the near future. According to local news, there is geothermal potential to be exploited and as of now “the project would consist of three stages for 10 geothermal reservoirs.”

Then local newspaper states that for the 3D modelling of the reservoirs and the volumetric assessment the cost will be of $130,000 “however Banks will be submitting his proposal to Alberta Innovates – Energy and Environment Solutions (AIEES) in the hopes that it will fund half of that cost, leaving the remaining $65,000 up to the affected communities.”

There seems to be enough heat to build a power plant with current measurements estimated at around 200°C but the local council seems to excited about the project but without any regulatory framework, things are still slightly unclear.
