In a letter sent today from EDC to the The Philippine Stock Exchange stating that after typhoon Glenda, the power plant building and generators are largely intact, which is excellent news.

The following text comprises the aforementioned letter sent to the Stock Exchange by EDC’s company information officer:

“We advise the Exchange of the status of our Bacman Geothermal Project as a result of
Typhoon Glenda.

Based on an ocular inspection conducted by site personnel on July 16, 2014
(Wednesday), please be advised of the following:
1. All power plant buildings are largely intact. The turbines and generators are
unaffected.
2. Based on available information, we have not received any indication that our
steam pipes sustained serious damage.
3. The cooling towers of Bacman’s 55MW Units 1 & 2 have sustained damage
and will require some repair before their return to service. The company
would, however, like to stress the availability of strategic spares that have been
ordered precisely for this type of contingency.
4. As earlier advised to the Exchange, Bacman’s 20 MW Unit 3 is still on it’s
planned shutdown for the replacement of its generator with a brand new unit.
The shutdown is approximately for one month staring July 7, 2014, unless
further assessment would require additional time.
5. Clearing operation of roads inside our Bacon Manito (BacMan) concession has
commenced utilizing contractor owned equipment. Based on available
information, 21 of the 25 reported landslides have already been cleared as of
this disclosure’s filing. The remaining 4 are expected to be cleared by today
(July 17, 2014).
6. Based on available information, there has been no reported fatality within the
Bacman concession area.
We shall notify the exchange of any relevant development on Bacman Geothermal
Project as the results of the more detailed assessments become available.”
