A wonderful book on Geothermal Heat Pumps for the City of New York, again awakes my curiosity on creating an overview book on geothermal energy development and utilization.

People that know me are aware of my obsession with good design, presentation, and generally the notion of the need to present things nicely.

This is one of the reasons why I ended up founding and pushing ThinkGeoEnergy forward and now also publish a new geothermal magazine. But only a few people have heard me speak about my dream about creating a good and nicely designed book on geothermal energy. It actually is a while ago since I looked at it last.

So when I stumbled upon a fantastic book on geothermal heat pumps today, it reminded me again on my thoughts on creating a book that in easy to read, not too technical fashion the opportunities geothermal energy represents from bathing, heating, industrial applications to power generation.

Have a look at the book I am referring to here.

–> Just found, here is the actual book in pdf: http://www.nyc.gov/html/ddc/downloads/pdf/GeothermalHeatPumpManual.pdf

The book I am envisioning would – in easy to digest – infographics tell the story of how geothermal energy can be utilized and how geothermal development works, what is needed form the business and financial side, but also look at policy issues in development of resources.

This accompanied with great imagery of geothermal plants and installations.

Key would be to create a book that is not too technical in nature, but going deep enough to give a good understanding on what geothermal energy has to offer and what is needed to make projects happen.

It would be providing an overview on geothermal energy and the opportunities it offers, and help to be a help on decision finding for development and support of development activities, e.g. through governments and local authorities.

This is a vision I have. To check out the book that awoke again my thoughts on the book, see the images provided in the article linked below. Fantastic design, easy to read and simply outstandingly beautiful.

Maybe I should start a crowdfunding campaign on this like the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association has now launched in Canada.

Thanks to the folks at Pentagram for posting the overview on that book, but shame on you to again awake my curiosity for yet another likely and possibly insane project.
