Reported from New Zealand, “Contact Energy Ltd.’s bid to build a 240-megawatt geothermal power station near Taupo will be considered by a special five-member board of inquiry, New Zealand’s government said today.

The panel, chaired by Environment Court Judge Gordon Whiting, must rule on the proposal within nine months, Environment Minister Nick Smith said in an e-mailed statement. ”
