It will take place in the University of El Salvador and will have 26 students, who are from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Peru, lasting for 5 months.

Last week, the official start of the 2014 Geothermal Diploma Course in El Salvador took place. According to the news release, the event “is organised by the National Energy Council, University of El Salvador, and the geothermal company LAGEO. The event brought together national authorities, representatives of international development finance institutions, geothermal specialists, and the 26 students, who are from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Peru.”

The course is financed by the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) and the IDB which assisits in the development of geothermal energy in South America, an area with great potential but limited development so far.
