Oregon Institute of Technology signs contract with Batzer Construction Inc. on the installation of a new 1.75 MW geothermal power plant at the Oregon Tech Klammath Falls campus.
In a news piece, the Oregon Institute of Technology (“Oregon Tech”) and Batzer Construction Incorporated of Medford, Oregon announce the signing of a final contract to complete the infrastructure and installation of a new 1.75 MW geothermal power plant at the Oregon Tech Klamath Falls campus.
The agreement marks the final phase for the completion of the project that is expected to be finished in December 2013. Upon completion of this project and the 2.0 MW solar array project with Solar City, Oregon Tech may become the first university in North America to reach a major goal to generate most—if not all—electrical power needed for the campus.
“Our goal is to be the first,” remarked Mary Ann Zemke, Vice President for Finance and Administration. “To get here, we have overcome many challenges through perseverance and accessing the unique technological knowledge of our faculty and staff.”
