Pertamina Geothermal Energy is supporting efforts on the revitalisation of a local lake near its geothermal operations at Kamojang, as part of wider efforts to develop a geothermal tourism village in the area.

Pertamina Geothermal Energy is increasingly recognized by stakeholders on its environmental management near the Kamojang geothermal area in Indonesia.

PGE has taken steps to support the revitalization efforts of Lake Pangkalan around the Kamojang area, part of the village development program for geothermal tourism in the area, as reported by Resource Asia.

“Thanks to the collaboration with the district government of Bandung, PGE Kamojang Area is actively working to develop the Kamojang Geothermal Tourism Village, by strengthening the step of revitalizing the Pangkalan Lake in order to restore the base lake which is currently gone,” said Wawan Darmawan, PGE Kamojang Area General Manager.

According to Wawan, Pangkalan Lake is very popular among the regencies of Bandung and Garut. But int he last few years, the lake has begun to be deserted from the visit of the surrounding communities because it has retreated.

“Because of this condition, as a clean and environmentally friendly geothermal energy developer, PGE has called to pay attention to the revitalisation of Pangkalan Lake to complement the geothermal tourism village development program.” he said.
