Pertamina needs around US$250 million for its geothermal projects

Indonesian Pertamina will need an investment of about Rp 2.5 trillion (US$250 million) to develop geothermal sources as part of the government's second-phase of its 10,000 megawatt (MW) electricity crash program.

In local news it is said that “State oil and gas company Pertamina will need an investment of about Rp 2.5 trillion (US$250 million) to develop geothermal sources as part of the government’s second-phase of its 10,000 megawatt (MW) electricity crash program.

“Pertamina will develop about 1,070 megawatts by 2014,” Pertamina president Karen Agustiawan told lawmakers Thursday.

Currently, Pertamina has developed 272 megawatts of geothermal electricity, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy’s president Abadi Poernomo said.

The second-phase of the 10,000 MW program is expected to generate 10,153 MW in total. As much as 39 percent of the capacity is expected to be generated from geothermal sources.”
