With its projects at Karaha, Ulubelu, Lumut Balai and Lahendong, Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) expects to add up to 165 MW to its geothermal power generation portfolio in 2017.

Indonesian Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) expects to add up to 165 MW in geothermal power generation capacity in 2017.

President Director of Pertamina Geothermal Energy, Irfan Zainuddin said current installed geothermal power generation capacity of the company is 512 MW today, but is expected to reach  677 MW next year.

Pertamina Geothermal expects to add 35 MW with the Karaha geothermal unit, Ulubelu Unit 4 with a capacity of 55 MW, Lumut Balai with a capacity of 55 MW, and Lahendong capacity of 20 MW.

“So with the additional 165 MW expected to start operation next year, we expect our total geothermal power generation capacity to reach 677 MW in 2017,” said Irfan.

By late 2019/ early 2020, Pertamina Geothermal Energy expects its geothermal capacity to reach up to 900 MW in total. So the company continues to work on ongoing project, but also add additional new projects.
