The exciting program for this year's annual Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern has been released. The event will take place in Munich/ Germany - 7-9 October 2019. Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Economy in the State of Bavaria will be in attendance highlighting the great emphasis given to geothermal energy in the state.

In a release today, German energy agency Enerchange has announced that Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Economy in the State of Bavaria will be speaking at the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern to take place in Munich – 7-9 October 2019.

At the same time it is announced that the program for this 7th edition of the largely successful annual event in Munich has been released.

It is the first time that the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs is visiting the event, which emphasizes the importance of deep geothermal energy in Bavaria as well as the national importance of climate protection. The Praxisforum has established itself as a panel on the highest level within the geothermal industry. During the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern experts of industry and science will discuss the latest issues and developments of the sector.  Until July 31st the early bird discount of ten percent applies.

“Without a real heat energy transition we won’t achieve the climate protection targets” said Dr. Jochen Schneider, Managing Director of the hosting company Enerchange. “Therefore the possibilities provided by geothermal heat supply are at the top of our agenda. Still other technical, political and economic issues won’t be neglected at this year’s Praxisforum.”

As in previous years, the State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy is patronage of the Praxisforum. This year the Minister of State himself, Mr. Hubert Aiwanger is present in the afternoon at the Praxisforum.

Anticipating future developments – discussing trends.

How will the market develop regarding the deep geothermal energy supply? This heavily depends on conditions set by the political and legal frameworks. Should Germany introduce a price for carbon dioxide the geothermal sector gets the possibility to optimally develop and use the potential which geothermal energy as source of a renewable energy offers and is able to supply. For the development of geothermal power plants the Renewable Energy Sources Act is just as relevant. Are geothermal power plants going to be financeable and profitable?  These will be topics on October 8th – the main day of congress.

Another relevant and important issue for locals and operators is the monitoring of seismicity possibly induced by geothermal plants. Forum II presents, among other things, the planned network for monitoring geothermal systems in Bavaria. How transferable are test results after reservoir exploitation for industrial operations? That’s the question discussed parallel at Forum III.

For the second time the Geothermische Energiepreis Bayern (Geothermal Energy Prize Bavaria) will be awarded at the Praxisforum. Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger will personally present the prizes to the two best geothermal plants in Bavaria for the categories electricity and heat. Another highlight is the presentation of the Christian-Hecht-Prize for the best junior scientific work on deep geothermal energy in Bavaria. Applications are possible until August 19th, 2019.

In the afternoon the congress day will address the heat energy transition and the role of geothermal energy at the Wissenschaftsforum (Science-Forum) of the Geothermie-Allianz Bayern (Geothermal Alliance Bavaria). At the same time Forum IV is going to discuss the geothermal reservoir of the Eastern Bavarian Molasse and its current projects. Which is, after the area of Munich the second hotspot for geothermal energy in Bavaria.

Workshops and GeoTHOUR

Due to the continual positive feedback of participants a workshop day will initiate the Praxisforum in 2019. On the morning of October 7th experts will discuss possible solutions for the problem of scaling at geothermal plants. In the afternoon a workshop will take place discussing the latest developments in feed pump technology. Parallel, the cooperation partner EGEC will present the EU project GeoRISK.

On October 9th the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern will conclude with field trip to geothermal plants in the Bavarian Molasse Basin. The GeoTHOUR provides firsthand practical information about the characteristics of the plants, their operation and the development of the geothermal resource.

Early bird discount until 31st July, 2019

Until July 31st, 2019 there are Early Bird tickets for all participants available who can possibly make fast decisions. Ten percent discount on the regular prices relish those who register until July 31st, 2019.

The Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern will be held at the Haus der bayerischen Wirtschaft (house of the Bavarian economy) in Munich. Further information are available at www.praxisforum-geothermie.bayern.de or directly from the organizer Enerchange www.enerchange.de.
