The architects of the rehabilitation of the Sasso 2 geothermal power plant by Enel Green Power in Italy receive prestigious architectural award.

In the fall of this year, Enel Green Power opened a new tourist site at the Sasso 2 geothermal power plant in the town of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Tuscany. The site is part of the geothermal hiking trail “Geothermal and Steam” from Sasso Pisano in Monterotondo.

The rehabilitation of the plant alongside a tourist route aimed at showcase the natural beauty of the area, enhancing the tourist aspect.

The architects for the project Daniela Moderini and Giovanni Selano, have now received a major recognition in an Italian architecture award (Architettura Alto Adige).

The Sasso Pisano, with Enel Green Power “Rock 2” and the path “Energy and Steam” that from fumaroles of Sasso Pisano leads to a “green terrace” which provides a great overview on the geothermal plant, was awarded was awarded best work by South Tyrolean architects outside the province. “The project and more generally geothermal tourism – commented Massimo Montemaggi responsible for geothermal at Enel Green Power – are actually possible thanks to the collaboration between Enel Green Power, institutions, local groups, the agricultural and renewable energy community collaborating on enhancing cultural, tourist and social development of geothermal areas in Tuscany. ”

The work is increasingly recognised also abroad. The work at Sasso Pisano was able to excel in front of a total of 166 works submitted for the prize Architecture South Tyrol.

“We thank Enel Green Power – said the architect Daniela Moderini, on the award she and her partner received – for the opportunity that was given to us to practice professionally idea of ??landscape that, as has defined the jury, considering the changes as infrastructure an integral part of the territory. ”
