Scientific Drilling International announces new CEO. Coming from Tetra Technologies and following a long career in the oil & gas service industry, Mr. Phil Longorio joins the company to lead SDI and its affiliates worldwide.

In a release this morning, Scientific Drilling International (SDI), the largest independent directional drilling and wellbore placement provider, announces the succession of former CEO Bill Wade.  The organization has seen significant growth under Wade’s direction, creating a strong foundation for structure, process, and an unwavering customer-focused culture.  They formally thank Mr. Wade for his leadership and service for the past several years, and wish him well in his retirement.

Additionally, SDI is proud to announce, Mr. Phil Longorio as Chief Executive Officer of the Company and its affiliates around the globe.   Over the last four months Phil has served as the interim President of SDI, developing a strong appreciation of the Company’s business strategy, culture, and people.  Based at Corporate Headquarters in Houston, TX, Longorio will oversee all of Scientific Drilling’s disciplines focused on technology and service in the directional drilling, wellbore placement, and production logging markets worldwide.

Longorio joins Scientific Drilling after a six year tenure as the Senior Vice President for TETRA Technologies, Inc. where he was responsible for their Energy Services and Chemicals divisions.   Prior to joining TETRA, Mr. Longorio served as President and Chief Executive Officer of WellDynamics B.V., a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures providing intelligent well technology.   From December 1999 through February 2004, Phil served as Vice President of Halliburton Energy Services responsible for Sperry Sun Drilling Services, following a variety of executive management roles within the Halliburton enterprise.   Mr. Longorio started his career as a Wireline Logging Engineer for Gearhart Industries, which was acquired by Halliburton in 1988.
