The annual Celle Drilling conference this year was greatly successful, providing a great opportunity to discuss where drilling technology is at today and how it could be improved. Key themes were drilling automation, optimisation, but also data modelling, validation and stimulation.

For the eighth time the annual “Celle Drilling” conference took place in the Congress Union Celle. More than 285 participants from 17 nations spent two days discussing technological developments and trends in the deep drilling industry. Launched by GeoEnergy Celle e.V., the conference has become firmly established in the industry. Every year research results from science and projects from practice are presented and discussed. On the sidelines of the conference, the project meeting of the “Geo-Energy-Europe” took place. Seven international project partners visited GeoEnergy Celle e.V. in Celle.

The increasing international importance of Celle Drilling as the European Event for innovative drilling technology and case studies was evidenced by the large number of foreign visitors, especially from England, Norway and the Netherlands, as well as a large Russian delegation. Thus, the event recorded a significant increase in participants from 240 to 285 compared to the previous year. The importance of the deep drilling industry for the location Celle is also demonstrated by the German research center “Drilling Simulator Celle” as a branch of the Technical University of Clausthal, was emphasized.

The focus this year was on “smart drilling”. One of the central questions was “Where is today’s technology and what can we improve?” Experts from the drilling industry presented papers on topics such as “Drilling Automation and Remote Tool Controls”, “Drilling Process Optimizations”, “Data, Modeling, Validation and Simulation”, “Drilling Applications and Case Studies”, “Geothermal Operations” and “Well Integrity “.

The “Celle Drilling 2018” was complemented by an accompanying exhibition of 20 companies.

The Celle Drilling 2019 will take place on September 10 and 11, 2019
