Exciting to see geothermal energy featured at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festivals in Austin/ Texas March 10, 2019. In a presentation by Jamie Beard and Bob Metcalfe of the University of Austin they will spread the message on what geothermal has to offer, and particularly EGS.

In the Intelligent Future Track of SXSW geothermal energy will be covered in a talk by Jamie Beard and Bob Meltcalfe of the University of Austin.

South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences that take in March in Austin, Texas. It celebrates the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries.

So it is fantastic to see geothermal featured in a venue like this.

The talk is scheduled for March 10, 2019 | 3:30PM – 4:30PM – Fairmont Manchester EFG, 101 Red River.

“We are literally standing on the sun. The core of the earth is 6000C, and drilling only 5-10 miles down would give us access to temperatures that far exceed what we need to create unlimited, CO2 free, clean energy. So why haven’t we done this? Because a set of technical and engineering problems related to high temperature, deep drilling technologies are currently holding us back. These problems are solvable, and addressing them will enable our energy “silver bullet.” A consortium has formed at the University of Texas at Austin, combining legacy drilling engineering expertise with our robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. Our aim is to catalyze a geothermal renaissance, enabling baseload capable geothermal energy by 2030. We want to invite the world to engage with this problem set and process.”

With their goal to engage the public in the topic, spread the word that we have a baseload CO2 free silver bullet under our feet, and attract major donors to the cause of EGS we wish them all the best. Keep us posted how it went … and have someone take pictures.
