The project aims to develop the Menengai geothermal steam field to produce enough steam for 460 MW power through the engagement of the Independent Power Producers.

1. Request for Expression of Interest

The Government of Kenya has received financing from the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Menengai Geothermal Development Project and intends to apply part of the funds for Consultancy Services for Project Supervision and management The project aims to develop the Menengai geothermal steam field to produce enough steam for 460 MW power through the engagement of the Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Geothermal Development Company Limited (GDC) which is 100% owned by the Government of Kenya is the project executing agency. The Project financing includes a component for the engagement of a Management and Supervision Consultant.

The services included under this project are:

  1. Supervision of Drilling Operations
  2. Project Management; and
  3. Knowledge Transfer and Training of GDC’s staff.

The implementation period for this project is 18 months.

The Geothermal Development Company (GDC) now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing Management and Supervision Consultancy Services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff etc). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” [May 2008 Edition, Revised in July 2012], which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.

2. Submission of Expressions of Interest

Interested consultants should submit One (1) Original and three (3) Copies, of Expressions of Interest in English and in a sealed envelope, clearly marked “- Expressions of Interest for Provision of Management and Supervision Consultancy for Menengai Geothermal Project GDC/CPS/EOI/ 054/2014-2015″ addressed to:
