TNO has released a new version of ThermoGIS, a public, web-based geographical information system with the main goal of supporting companies and the government to develop geothermal energy in the Netherlands.

Netherlands based TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research), an independent research organisation focusing on applied science has released released a new version of ThermoGIS.

ThermoGIS is a public, web-based geographical information system with the main goal of supporting companies and the government to develop geothermal energy in the Netherlands.

TNO used the abundance of available subsurface data and its broad knowledge of the Dutch subsurface to create ThermoGIS. In ThermoGIS, the user can view various aquifer property maps and the corresponding geothermal potential of most clastic reservoirs in the Dutch subsurface. Although the system only covers the Netherlands geographically, the methodology is applicable to any site.

More information, as well as the map viewer, are available on the ThermoGIS website: www.thermogis.nl/en
