Turboden brings the 5.5 MW Traunreut geothermal ORC power plant online. The plant is located in Bavaria, Germany and is Turboden's fourth plant in the country.

In a statement this morning, Italian ORC supplier Turboden announces that it has brought a new plant online in Bavaria, Germany.

Already on January 13, 2016, Turboden connected its 5.5 MW electric ORC power plant to the grid. The customer is GKT Geothermische Kraftwerkgesellschaft Traunreut GmbH, a company which operates a geothermal well in Bavaria, Germany. The ORC plant will also supply up to 12 MW of heat to the municipality of Tranreut.

Turboden had signed the contract with TH Arens for the construction of the complete ORC unit connected to the district heating system back in 2014..

Thanks to 35 years of experience in ORC turbogenerator design, Turboden provided GKT the best-optimized configuration for a specific low-temperature geothermal resource of 118°C.

With its Germany-based team in Kirchseeon, Turboden was able to service the project locally. This new project is a representation of Turboden’s commitment to innovation and performance improvement in ORC technology.

The 5.5 MW Traunreut plant is Turboden’s fourth geothermal unit installed in Germany, confirming the company’s leadership in geothermal power capacity in the country with a portfolio of now 20 MWe installed geothermal power generation capacity. Turboden’s international geothermal portfolio currently accounts for 10 plants (49 MW gross), with locations in Turkey, Europe, and Japan.
