The University of Nevada, Reno has released the program for the 2013 National Geothermal Academy to be held July 8- August 2, 2013 in Reno, Nevada.

The National Geothermal Academy is an intensive summer course covering all aspects of geothermal energy development and utilization.  The course is offered through the University of Nevada, Reno.

The program in Summer 2013 will run for four weeks and be offered for 3 academic credits.  Individual modules are also offered forprofessional development through Extended Studies.

The Academy is intended for outstanding undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals.  Strong preparation in quantitative fields, such as mathematics, physics, geoscience, engineering or chemistry, is expected.

The Summer 2013 program will run from July 8 to August 2:

  • Week 1: Introduction to Geothermal Energy (July 8-12)
  • Week 2: Reservoir Engineering (July 15-19)
  • Week 3: Power Plant Design and Construction (July 22-26)
  • Week 4: Direct Use Applications (July 29-August 2)

Student and Early Bird Professional applications accepted February 15 through March 31. Late Professional applications accepted April 1 through May 15.
